For those of you who are not familiar with challenge blogs, here’s how it works:
- The blog host posts a new themed challenge every week or month, such as “make a card using pink and green” or “use this vintage image in a piece of art” or “make something with an angel” or “alter a tin” or “follow this design sketch”.
- The blog readers each create something within the theme and post a picture of their work online, either on their own blog or other photo-sharing site (like Flickr).
- The blog readers then submit a comment to the challenge post on the host blog, and include a link back to their own picture.
- All the blog readers read through everyone else’s comments throughout the week or month, and view each other’s work by clicking on the link in each comment – it’s like walking through a virtual art gallery!
- Everyone encourages each other by leaving comments on each other’s blogs, telling each other how great their work is, how original their interpretation of the theme was, etc.
- When the challenge is over, the host blog usually posts a “Sampler Showcase” of a variety of entries, and some even offer a prize drawing for all who enter the challenge.
- And then it starts all over again!
