Podcast interview with Jan Krentz and Anita Grossman Solomon

Anita and Jan Fabric Tussle

C&T authors Jan Krentz and Anita Grossman Solomon were interviewed at Fall 2011 Quilt Market by Jacqueline Kunkel, producer and host of the popular podcast, Jackie’s Quilting Chronicles.

Click here for details on how to listen to the podcast, which was just released this month.

They talked about Jan’s fabric collection for Timeless Treasures called Hollyhock Garden, from which they both made quilts. They also chatted about interfacings, including Anita’s new Make It Simpler® Fusible Interfacing.

Pull up the podcast and listen in while you’re sewing…enjoy!

Getting our craft on at CHA!

RMdemo

I’m visiting the Craft & Hobby Association’s Winter Conference and Trade Show this week and there’s so much to see and do! Connecting in person with so many designers, resellers, and manufacturing colleagues is always such a treat. This show just oozes creativity and inspiration—from sewing to quilting to knitting to papercrafts to scrapbooking to mixed media to kids’ crafts—there is something here for everyone.

Rebekah Meier and I demo-ed at the R&M Distributors booth, showing off a very cool new art (Continue Reading...)

Historical fabric from Andover

Hewson Quilt

It has been about a month since Fall Quilt Market and I am still getting caught up…but I wanted to share with you this historical fabric line that Andover introduced at Market called Winterthur, inspired by textiles that John Hewson originally created in the late 1760’s which are featured in the Winterthur Museum.

Hewson created Baltimore-type designs; he printed cover lids (bed spreads), handkerchiefs, and other fine linens. He was referred to as a Bromley Hall fabric printer, which meant (Continue Reading...)

Fall Quilt Market—textures, colors, and quilts

Twisted Yarns

The end of October is one of the times I look forward to every year. A bunch of us from C&T go to the International Fall Quilt Market in Houston, Texas. The booths are colorful, informative, and innovative…and the exhibits are breathtaking and inspiring. The colors and textures were what drew me in and that is what I want to share with you today. There were buttons, and rick rack, paper flowers and felt balls. I loved the rough texture of (Continue Reading...)

C&T authors win big at the IQA Awards at Quilt Festival

Refracted Lily quilt

Earlier tonight I attended the International Quilt Association Awards at the International Quilt Festival in Houston, Texas. In this annual show, Quilts—A World of Beauty, there were so many gorgeous, perfectly-crafted quilts, and we were lucky enough to be there to see some of our authors win this year’s awards.  And a few C&T’ers won more than once!

Anna Faustino, author of Simply Stunning Woven Quilts, won two awards; the first was third place in the Art – Abstract, (Continue Reading...)

A glimpse of PIQF

Going to the Pacific International Quilt Festival (PIQF) is one of the highlights of my year. Of course there’s all the fabulous shopping and fabric fondling with over 300 vendors in attendance (and I did buy some wonderful things), but for me it’s really all about the quilts. Each year I am even more amazed at the talent that shines inside the walls of the Santa Clara Convention Center.

I’ll let this gallery of pictures that I snapped speak (Continue Reading...)

What is there to love about Joen’s new book Adventures in Design?
