Getting your work featured in an exhibition is a big deal, but being the first quilt artist to ever to have your work featured in a one-person show at the country’s most prestigious folk art museum is something to scream about.
Paula Nadelstern’s book, Paula Nadelstern’s Kaleidoscope Quilts: An Artist’s Journey Continues, is breathtaking.

Whether you are a quilter or just a fan of beautiful art, it is hard to look through the book without oohing and ahhing. I also like that this book is a career retrospective. It is always exciting to honor an artist’s journey over the years. So here are the details about Paula’s exhibition:
Kaleidoscope Quilts: The Art of Paula Nadelstern
On View: April 21–September 6, 2009 at the American Folk Art Museum
This is the American Folk Art Museum’s first one-person exhibition highlighting the work of a contemporary quilt artist. Paula Nadelstern has achieved international recognition for her innovative and complex designs inspired by the bilateral symmetry of kaleidoscope images. Her artistic vision encompasses science, history, and tradition expressed in crystalline patterns composed of slivers of jewel-like fabric.
The Cardiff Quilters Guild in the United Kingdom recently held their annual holiday party. The groups leader, Teresa, issued a challenge to her fellow quilters.
She gave every one a piece of Timtex and backing and challenged them to make a Christmas Postcard. According to Teresa, everyone rose very well to the occasion. Here are a few of the Timtex Christmas postcards from the Cardiff Quilters Guild:

I knew the whimsical characters featured in Fantastiques: Whimsies had the potential to create amazing papercraft and altered arts projects, but when talented designer Lauren Nwachukwu used the 27 posable characters as chess pieces it made my crafting heart skip a beat. The chessboard was featured in the October 2008 issue of Altered Arts Magazine. Check out the article here: Fantastiques Chessboard

We were so excited when the editors of The Quilter magazine told us they wanted to write an article celebrating 25 years of C&T Publishing!
The magazine editors interviewed our staff members, asking dozens of questions about the history of C&T. Things like… “What are your biggest accomplishments and high points over the last 25 years?” It was a lot of fun to sit in meetings with long-time staff members (a couple of ‘em go all the way back to the very beginning) and discuss the impact that C&T Publishing has made in this industry. The magazine also asked us to provide them with a dozen quilt images that portray the trends we’ve inspired over the years. The result of this is a beautiful 6-page article. Click here to view it.
Sharon Rexroad, author of Pineapple Stars: Sparkling Quilts, Perfectly Pieced and Pineapple Stars Paper Piecing Patterns sent me an adorable Pineapple Stars project that one of her pineapple enthusiasts sent her. Here is what recent bride Jen Mazza expressed to Sharon:
Hi Sharon, I wanted to send you a picture of my star, I used your pattern to make the ring bearer pillow for my wedding! I loved the pattern and the book made it so easy! It was the first really complicated square that I have ever made, and it came out perfect! The book gave great advise on picking fabrics as well as showing all of the different ways you could use the same pattern to come out with a variety of totally different quilts!

Congratulations, Jen, and thanks for sharing with us!
