Giveaway—Transparency Quilts

transparencycover

Mastering the illusion of transparency…when I look through the pages of Transparency Quilts by Weeks Ringle and Bill Kerr, I do indeed feel the magic! Certain areas of each quilt seem to be floating above the rest, and my eyes rest quite happily on the smooth lines, calm patterns, and perfect color combinations.

Here’s some of what Weeks and Bill have to say about their newest book…

We love color, but we love the visual relationships among colors even more…our (Continue Reading...)

This week’s giveaway—it’s all about free-form!

Gillman Dwellings

Yay!! Can you see me doing a little happy dance over here? Rayna Gillman’s new book, Create Your Own Free-Form Quilts, is my latest obsession. I think the book’s subtitle says it all…A Stress-Free Journey to Original Design. Two things that really float my own creative boat are “stress-free” and “original design.” One of Rayna’s personal tenets of design is also my own artistic mantra…there’s no such thing as a mistake!

This book shows you how to use free-form cutting and (Continue Reading...)

This book is also a great intro to paper piecing for those of us (ok so maybe it’s just me) who have been a little afraid to try.

Once you’ve made all your favorite designs from (Continue Reading...)

Each year I am even more amazed at the talent that shines inside the walls of the Santa Clara Convention Center.

I’ll let this gallery of pictures that I snapped speak (Continue Reading...)
