This graceful and sophisticated heirloom-quality quilt by Kathy K. Wylie, Flourish on the Vine, is our latest pattern pack release!
Inspired by the Bible verse,”I am the vine, you are the branches…” (John 15:5), this quilt features vines and branches inspired by wrought ironwork, and the bordering swags were imagined from festoons of fruit, as seen in Roman Empire temples.
You can make the quilt as shown, or mix and match the elements to create your own design. Kathy gives you plenty of preparation guidelines to ensure success, whether you use her needle-turn method or choose a different appliqué technique.
Divided into 12 sections with full-size pattern sheets to make it easier to complete, this quilt is sure to satisfy either the experienced quilters or the ambitious beginner!

Well. . .I start early in the day. . .quilt until afternoon and then if I can’t sleep. . .I quilt into the night!!!
I like to quilt in the afternoon. I get all my house chores done, then I can enjoy my quilting before my husband comes home from work!
I like to quilt any time. Morning or night! And I try to do that very thing!
I am more of a late morning/afternoon girl. I rarely quilt at night because I tend to make more mistakes when I am tired. However, the last quilt I quilted was an all nighter. I was on a roll!! I finished quilting it around 9:00 a.m. on the day my daughter-in-law arrived. It was a full size t-shirt quilt that I made for her.
I don’t do “Early” mornings but I do quilt late at night sometimes. I find I do best from late morning until mid afternoon. I have health issues that has fatigue as a major component, so sometimes I have to lay down and then go at it again!
I love to quilt in the mornings and afternoons. As you get older your eyes are a little reluctant to do as you want in the evenings. But I get a lot done on my quilt projects when my eyes are fresh. A passion is a passion really, no matter what time of day, I guess.
I love to quilt late at night. It’s quiet and peaceful and no distractions although I have been known to start early in the day and quit late at night.
I like to quilt early in the day when the lighting is at it’s best and so am I

I usually quilt at night because in the morning I am either working or catching up on life outside of work.
I quilt when I have time, usually at night while I watch tv.
I’m not very ready for quilting until I eat breakfast, do the crossword puzzle from daily paper and read my emails which works out to be about 9:30 (not early). But, on the otherhand, since I’e hit 80 I’m pretty ready to go to bed and read. So–I’d say I am a middle of the day quilter and I pack a lot into those hours!
I prefer to quilt earlier in the day, the light is just right and I have more energy. :-)
That picture took my breath away! I like to quilt while the sun shines. I do a lot in the evening, but natural light is the best for me.
I have to get my duties taken care of before I can start or nothing would ever get done. There are not enough hours in the day, especially at Christmas time.
I like to stitch in the late afternoon, because the sun comes through the windows behind where I sit. My work is done for the day, and I can sit and do something for me-quilt.
I’m not a morning person but I like to work during the day and at night. If I have a deadline looming, I’ll keep going till it’s done.
I usually sew in the evening due to my work schedule. Of course on the weekends, it’s at any moment that I find time!!
I like to get everything else done and then sew the rest of the free time, so when ever that is. I work until I am at a good stopping point.
Late at night – after work, after dinner is made, after housework is done, after dog has been walked, and after child is in bed. There is usually 10 minutes left. :)

I saw Kathie’s quilt at a local quilt show. It is awe inspiring! Unbelievable! I like to quilt in the evening. I have daylight fluorescent lights in my sewing room, which is the only way I can see to do it. I find stitching very relaxing.
Night when the day has settled down is most enjoyable
