While we spend eight hours a day talking quilts, editing quilt writing, laying out quilt books, and so forth… We still like to do it in our spare time! Here’s what we’re doing…

Technical Editors crunch all the numbers, prepare all of the illustrations for the illustrator, and oversee the how-to photo shoot. They make sure you can make what the book says you can.

Carolyn's projects

Carolyn is a quilter, making mostly traditional quilts, and she has made quilts for and with her grandkids. In addition to quilting, she dabbles in all kinds of needlecrafts. She knits (making sweaters or hats for all the new C&T babies and her grandkids), sometimes crochets, does a little embroidery, and sews garments. She often makes gifts for her four grandchildren, but lately has decided to work on some projects for herself, so she is working on a vintage-style apron, a ’30s miniature quilt, and a knitted cape. She says likes to work on a few different things at one time so she won’t get bored with any one project, but that is probably just an excuse for having so many UFO’s.

Teresa's Blocks to Diamonds quilt started

Teresa (who is also our Managing Editor) quilts, mostly traditional. She has dabbled with many types of handwork over the years, including crochet, knitting, cross stitch, crewel embroidery, decoupage, scrapbooking, and stamping on quilts to get just the right fabric. She is currently working on the first quilt of her own design that she started at an Empty Spools conference in Asilomar. She is also working on a Lone Star from the recently released book Blocks to Diamonds by Cheryl Malkowski. She loves to try anything she comes across in her work as a technical editor.

Sandy's design wall

Sandy collects ideas of things she wants to make. “Files and files.” Volunteer work is taking over her crafting time, so she has been in a minor lull for a while. She quilts and enjoys machine embroidery. She is currently converting her oldest son’s bedroom to a project room. His bed is now vertical and it has become a design wall. Yippee! Her wedding present for her brother and his new wife is in the works and is hanging on the design wall. It is based on a block from Cozy Modern Quilts by Kim Schaefer.
