October Releases Giveaway!

I am so excited about our line-up of October titles and products I just couldn’t decide which one to focus this giveaway on. Then my mind wandered to thinking about Halloween and how fun it is to go trick-or-treating and come back to have a pumpkin head pail full of all different kinds of candy. I remember how as a child it seemed like the huge variety of goodies I got was the most amazing part.

Then I thought back to our line-up of books and products this month and saw that there was quite a variety in the mix—appliqué, modern quilting, sewing, gifts, surface design materials, strip-piecing… And I thought, why not give away all of them?

So this giveaway is meant to excite you the way that pumpkin pail full of different candy did, when you came home after pounding the pavement on Halloween night as a kid and dumped the pail out on to the floor to see what you had. Below is the full line-up of October books, from both C&T Publishing and our Stash Books imprint, as well as our October gift and surface design products. Two lucky commenters will win all seven new releases!!

The Ultimate Appliqué Guidebook by Annie Smith……..Elly Sienkiewicz's Beloved Baltimore Album Quilts by Elly Sienkiewicz with Mary Tozer

Comments will be closed at 9am PST on Monday, October 18th, 2010 and the winners will be announced later that day.

Skulls Deelybopper Headband Halloween Project

It’s October…the month of Halloween! Even if you don’t “go all out” in costume throughout the month, it’s fun to show a little spirit, right? This “deelybopper” project can be found in Super-Simple Creative Costumes by Sue Astroth and is a quick and easy project. If you don’t choose to wear it to the office, shopping, or any social event, surely your kids will enjoy the attention they’ll get at school. Boo!

Skulls “Deelybopper” Halloween Headband

Materials:

  • Store-bought headband with antennae (party supply store)
  • Four 2” circles of fast2fuse prepared with circles of white fabric of the same size fused to one side of each
  • four die-cut skulls (or other Halloween theme)

Instructions:

  1. Satin stitch around each of the four circles.
  2. Using glue gun adhere a skull onto one side of each circle.
  3. Remove any pre-attached decorations from the headband.
  4. Using your glue gun, glue tw0 circles together (skulls on outside), sandwiching one of the headband antennae between them. Hold until the glue cools/hardens a bit. Repeat for the second antenna.

Everyday Inspiration

A creative life is filled with challenges and rewards, puzzles and curiosities. This ongoing series of poems attempts to express the “Aha”s and “What if”s, the deep ponderings and casual observations of an inquiring mind trying to make sense of reality. May it serve, for you, as a bit of “Everyday Inspiration” along your own creative path.

Make every day

Extraordinary!
