Took a class on miniatures from Sally several years ago at Miami University. We made the quilt which is featured in this article. She was an excellent instructor.
I have lots of favorite quilts but I can tell you that the quality of all of my quilts improved tremendously after I read Sally’s first book.
My favorite quilt so far is a mariner’s compass surrounded by flying geese. It’s my favorite because I think it turned out best of all the ones I’ve made so far–although I’m rather impressed with the quilt top I just completed, from the “Stratavarious” book!
My favorite quilt is a freezer paper iris quilt that I created – as irises are my favorite flowers. The quilt may not be constructed perfectly, yet it is the second one I’ve made and did it start to finish myself. This prize would be great because need to learn techniques for drafting a quilt that go beyond simple graph paper. Also, most of my borders are just cloth sewed to the edges of the quilts. Know that can learn lots from the DVD.
I already subscribe to the CT newsletter, which is how I learned of this giveaway contest.
Actually one of my earliest quilts is still my favorite, not the largest or the most intricate. It’s relatively simple, but the colors just glow. Serendipity sometimes just happens
My favorite quilt is a Trip Around the World that I made in the 1980s. It is a favorite because I made it with my mother whenever I was home on vacations, and it was quilted by my Aunt Louise, who I loved dearly. Kathie L in Allentown
Favourite quilt…oh my and for so many different reasons, I made my DD one for her wedding (cross stitched and quilted) that I started when she was about 10 or 12 and the joke was always….when will it be finished? for your wedding! Well it was, but not much in advance! I am dying to make a mariners compass…but even with LOTS of experience quilting I just don’t think I have the precision required!
My favorite quilt is the first quilt I made. It was for my nephew’s first birthday! He loved it!

I have your blog badge on my blog!
What a beautiful and interesting book. I think I need to win this. One of my favourite quilts I made was one I made for my Mum’s surprise 70th Birthday. Everyone got to sign the back of it at her party. The quilt and the party were a complete surprise. My brothers and sisters sneeked into the country for this. I even got my mum to order the pen we wrote on the back, she had no idea. She uses this quilt on her bed in winter.Thank you for such a great prize.
Happy days.

My favorite quilt is a quilt challenge for an architectural design . I love precision piecing and this one was a technical challenge. I took a basic stain glass window design and recreated it to finish 24 inches by 24 inches. The ‘lead ‘ filler is an interwoven ribbon design. Can you guess why I named it “‘Ribbon Pane’ (not Pain…… but I was tempted) ?
I even used ‘old fashion’ graph paper and color pencils for the pattern! Thank you Sally for keeping us inspired! I ‘m looking forward to seeing your next book!
I love paper piecing and would love a chance to win Sally Collins books or video on the subject of Precision Piecing.
BOrders are always a challenge. Sure could use a book on how to make better ones!! Sally Collins books sounds just like the BOOK.
My favorite quilt is a feathered star sampler
I’ve subscribed to the youtube videos. I wish they weren’t so slow to load. Perhaps I should use a different browser?
My favorite & 1st quilt I made was my “Hanky Panky” quilt. It took about 125 hankies, these were vintage hankies I had purchased at yard sales, flea markets, etc. All these were then hand-quilted in large blocks. I was very pleased with the results, & for my 1st attempt a quilting I was hooked! Many more to come as a result of this beautiful quilt!

I haven’t made a quilt by myself, despite being on my 30s, but I have helped my Mom make my favorite one. She made a black and white photo collage with three rows if photos. The first row was her as a baby then myself as a baby and finally a row of photos of my daughter as a baby. It is amazing how much we all look like! But it is definitely my favorite.
My favorite is a miniature with 4 snail blocks creating a star in the middle and a meandering braided border that I designed to surround it. I was thrilled when Jane Hall decided to include this quilt in her Foundation Borders book. I could certainly use Sally’s information since I love to design my own patterns.
I just discovered your site and added a blog link to my blog site.
My favorite quilt is my “Oh Africa” quilt that was just auctioned off for the schools run by Bishop Wandabula. (Hope Children’s Choir is part of his work) It is my favorite because of the social poem, the hand dying and the thread work that just all seemed to fall together after a long spell on the drawing board. It makes me feel good that I know that the money raised will help feed and school children living in terrible conditions.
My favorite quilt is the one I made for my nephew, which is also one of my first quilts.
My favorite quilt was a friendship star baby quilt I made for my cousin.
My favorite quilt is one that I made with over 300 pieces! It is foundation paper pieced and is only 7″ X 7″! It has teeny tiny pieces and actually took a long time to make. Each of the blocks is a tiny tulip and the pieced borders are made up of sawtooth triangles. The colors are cranberry, dark green, pink and white. I pieced it on my Featherweight sewing machine.
Michele, try using the Mozilla Firefox browser. That’s my favorite. Is it just our videos that are slow to load or everyone’s? It may be your internet service.
My favorite quilt I didn’t make completely. It was a top my grandmother appliqued. She had it sandwiched and basted for quilting. When she couldn’t quilt it, I worked on it for her. She died before I completed it. I just love this quilt.

My favorite quilt is the last one I made, or the one I’m working on. I love designing my own work, so I’m always amazed at what I was just able to create. Also, my skills improve with each new quilt I make. The Sally Collins books and CD will help with that! Denise L.
I am most proud of this quilt: http://www.flickr.com/photos/briana-arlene/4290234361/in/set-72157623623280485/. It was my first attempt at paper piecing!
My favorite quilt is the Dear Jane quilt that I am still working on. It has such challenging blocks – both pieced and applique. It is an inspiration as well.
The S-Block quilt from one of the Kaffe Fassett books. I made this from the first group of fabrics I ever bought. I used sale fabrics from an online shop, just going through and ordering half yard cuts of every fabric that caught my eye…and they worked beautifully. My hubby and I love, love, love this quilt!
My favorite quilt I ever made??? All of them! All inspired by the wonderful books that C&T publish. I am an art quilter/fibre artist, and the technique books are the best. Just received collage+cloth=quilt and can’t wait to get working on another new project!
Hi! My favorite quilt is the one I made for my son. Although I had no idea how to make a quilt (and it shows), I hunted until I found 9 different coordinating fabrics for appliqued bears in pastels, and even made a prairie point border (totally wrong). I used two layers of a very lumpy batting too. While the quilt is technically an exhibit of what not to do, it is my favorite quilt because every stitch was made with love and anticipation, and hey, babies just enjoy the moment, not the technique!
And I’ve signed up for your newsletter too!
Entered three ways–hope I win. Sally came to my guild last year and her program was amazing!
My favorite quilt I made was one called Colorwash Irish Chain. I took a class to learn how to make it & was really a beginner at the time. I would have never figured it out without the excellent teacher & class. I just love the way the colors all blend into each other. I would love to win the givaway & try Sally’s latest techniques.
My favorite quilt was the Cats and Dogs quilt I made for an exchange with one of th members of the small quilt group that I belong to. We drew a name of one of our memebers to make a quilt for. In addition, all member contributed a set of simple styalized cat and dog paper pieced blocks. We then had to take a set of each members blocks, plus our own and design a quilt for the member we picked. In addition to these blocks I made 3 realistic paper pieced Bichon dog blocks that turned out ever so cute and just made the quilt.
Thanks for a great giveaway.
My favorite quilt is an applique quilt of leaves picked in my mother’s yard where I grew up. I was inspired by a quilt made by an unknown quilter in the mid 1800s.
Tho I love applique, my favorite pieced quilt is a small New York Beauty quilt. I could certainly use advice on piecing, borders and bindings.
I subscribed to your newsletter, which I didn’t know about. I’m glad I came to visit your blog today.
My favorite quilt I made is my Billie Holiday quilt. She is featured in the book, “500 Art Quilts” by Lark Publishing. She is my favorite because (1) I am a big fan of Billie Holiday, and (2) I made this quilt during a very difficult time in my life. I chose a black and white palette because she is no longer with us, but the red tongue signifies that her music is still alive. You can see her at http://fiberpassion.blogspot.com.

One of my favorite quilts is one that I made for my grandson’s crib. It was a dalmations on red plaid on the front with dalmations on white flannel backing and red prairie points.
My favorite quilt is always “the one I’m working on right now,” but I do love a scottie dog quilt I made for my daughter years ago.
A quilt made from charm squares is my favourite. The colours blend in so beautifully and it has my all-time favourite fans and hearts appliqued in the border.
It is difficult to choose a favorite, my choice would be an art quilt I called Look at the Sky. It depicts sunset at the beach, with sailboats on the horizon. Must have a bazillion beads on it. But I’ve gotten wonderful comments about it.
I”m delighted to share about Sally Collins’ book. I sent a tweet, have a creative troupe badge on my blog (brightthreadsstudio.com/blog) and receive your newsletter. I didn’t know you were on YouTube until now, so I subscribed to that feed today.
I love all that precision piecing. Sally is great at that. I would love to win any one of her books. Mariners Compass is my favorite.
Took Sally’s class in Sarasota and loved learning her techniques. I shall be entering a “Sally Quilt” in our 2011 quilt show.
I can’t wait for her new book. It is the “math’ of quilting that I love.
I am a subscriber, and I once had the chance to hear Sally speak on drafting. She made a complex topic very enjoyable!
Quilting could well be considered an engineering art.
Thanks for the chance to win!
I also subscribed to your YouTube channel. Thanks very much.
A great prize package! Just unpacked an antique quilt top that I want to finish that has many diagonals. Just one among many projects!
My favorite quilt is usually the one I am working on- right now a stacked coins quilt using Australian fabrics.
I also subscribe to your newsletter so I don’t miss great giveaways such as this one.
My favorite quilt is my first applique small quilt. It has a folk art style basket of flowers and a lovely paisley border that just happened to be in my stash that was perfect for it.
My favorite quilt that I made was one that I made with my Mother. She was the family quilter, I has other interests. She was receiving Chemo treatments and I had move into her house for two months to take care of her. I pulled out one of her quilting books and together we made our first and only quilt as a way of taking her mind off the chemo. The quilt had a heart design and the Live well, laugh often, love much on it, as that was now our motto as we fought her cancer together. We finished my quilt and started one for her, sadly that quilt is still unfinished as she passed away and I just can not finish her stitching. That was my introduction into quilting three years ago and today I make quilts for nursing homes, abused and ill children and cancer patients. I only wish I would have started quilting sooner. Being a newer quilter I would love to win books that would help me in my charity work. Some day I would love to tackle the Mariner’s compass quilt, this is my quilting goal.

It seems that my favorite quilt is always the one I just finished! I just mailed off a small quilt to the Alzheimer’s Quilt auction. It’s an apple pieced a la Ruth McDowell. I love it! Hope it raises lots of money for a good cause.
I just love the contests! Keep them coming and please enter me.
I love her borders book!
It is a wonderful prize.
I have read Sally’s previous books cover to cover and learned great techniques for precision piecing.
Wow – I would love to win this great give-a-way of Sally Collins products. My most favorite quilt is a quilt by Jan Krentz – Monet’s Water Lilies Diamond Quilt. My husband loves this quilt and he asked for it specifically. He is my greatest supporter! I would really use everything in this give-a-way as I have always wanted to take a class from her.

My favorite quilt so far is not yet done, as I am a beginner and have just started my first quilt! But it’s an Amish star quilt!
My favorite quilt is one I made at a retreat/workshop. I designed an asymetrical block modeled on a zuchini flower. Had a gradation run of pinks I’d dyed, so used those for the flowers, and the background pieces were picked up randomly from a variety of greens, etc., that I’d cut. The blocks were turned different directions. Then did an irregular pieced border that echoed the light source: dark on two sides and lighter on the other two. Had to name it “Mutant Zuchini” of course.

After reading the newsletter announcement, I thought I better get in on this one – I love Sally Collins’ work! If only I could learn her tricks for precise beauty!

My favoite quilt is a strata quilt going from cream batik to deep purple. The colors and the geometric blocks just do it for me – it is a pattern that I immediately fell in love with! Thank you!
My favoite quilt is one that I partially designed myself. I call it Global Warming. The center is a convergence block from Ricky Tims’ book, “Convergence Quilts”. I placed it on point and added borders and machine appliqued a sun onto it. Then I machine quilted flames in the convergence area. As I get older, I believe we have to be stewards for our planet; nobody else can do it. I have a grandson-I want him to be able to live a long and healthy life.

My favorite quilt is a Kaleidoscope using colors that remind me of shallow water. It was made to remind me of the river in Texas that we wade and ride inner tubes during the summer. I included fabric that looks like sand in the shallow areas and fabrics to look like swirling water in the rapids area. This block taught me that angles need a lot of extra attention if the corners are going to meet!
My favourite quilt is the one I made for my niece 3 years ago when she went off to university. She had spent part of her gap year in Tanzania and I asked her to bring back some fabrics for a project I wanted to do (didn’t tell her it was for her quilt) – then it was a challenge to incorporate the fabrics into the design alongside those we had already collected. The finished result was bright and fun and she loved it and showed it to all her friends at uni – a great success! Here is a link to the entry on my blog about it http://stitchnpatch.blogspot.com/2007/11/quilts-and-sewing-space-my-niece-has.html

My favorite quilt that I made was from a book by Valorie Wells-Simple Start Stunning Finish…. I used the basic pattern for the blossom quilt but then I digitized my own flowers and used the embroidery machine to embroider those flowers into the circles…It was the first quilt that I actually finished! Thanks Valori for a GREAT pattern.
My favorite quilt of those I’ve made? That’s a hard one, but I’d have to say it is one that was my first attempt at “art” quilting and I made it to tell a story of pioneer women in quilting history. It is a 3 dimensional quilt and my first winning quilt at a show. Thanks for the chance to win this great book.
My favorite quilt that I made was for my dear friend’s first baby Daughter. I enjoyed embroidering various blocks with nursery rhythms, and then putting it all together and hand quilting it, It’s my all time favorite quilt,

love to learn to draft patterns that way I don’t have to involve my engineer husband to draft it for me.
My favorite quilt is one of my first quilts it is simple square blocks, fussy cut from large scale flower fabrics and sashed with yelllow and bright colored cornerstones. It makes me feel good every time I see it. Now I am working on a fused applique wall hanging called Almost Poppy from a pattern by Laura Heine
Sally Collins is one of my favorite designers. I’d love to learn her way of drafting quilts.
My favorite quilt is the Mississippi Wheel of Fortune from Karen Stone’s pattern. It is fun to look at, totally made from my stash (except the backing). I’d love to make another!
My favorite quilt is the one I just finished for my new granddaughter. It uses a panel but I pieced the 2nd border and I machine quilted the panel and each border differently. This was definitely a challenge for me as a new machine quilter.
I already subscribe to your newsletter. :)
One of my favorite quilts is actually a wallhanging which is used to display my lapel pin collection. It is 2″ squares on point, with everyother one being white. Then I surrounded it with a one inch white inner border followed by 2″ squares-in-a-square on point. I really impressed myself with the way the outer border lined up with the squares in the body of the quilt. This quilt was one of the rare times I didn’t have a drafted plan. Accurancy is important to me and it gives me pleasure still to see the way all the squares lined up.
I love drafting patterns and I actually have friends that give me a hard time about drafting everything out.
I would love to win Sally Collins new Drafting book because I am always searching out new and different ways of making quilts and it would sure to give me new perspectives on drafting designs.
I am new to this forum and am excited to be imspired by others.

Sally Collins is over the top — I’d really love to Learn her techniques
and thanks for posting those videos on YouTube.

Big fan of Sally Collins, can’t get enough of instruction and inspiration. My favorite quilt that I have made is called Confetti Stars by Terry Atkinson. It was chosen by my son who wanted me to make it for him. It was a fun pattern to make and I liked the material that was provided with the kit because it was something that I would have never chosen but it turned out really nice.
Love all the C&T books!
Great site! Good books!
Hi,
I’m returning to quilting after a long hiatus – very excited by your products! Quilting and fiber art have evolved in the past 25 years. Your YouTube videos are fabulous!
Christine
My favorite quilt is an Ocean Waves that I made in all the brilliant colors that remind me of a day at the beach.
My favorite quilt is a blue and white two-color Ohio star. Love that Sally Collins!
My favorite quilt is always the one I am currently working on, which right now is a wedding quilt for my son. As my skills continue to develop and my confidence grows, the whole process becomes that much more enjoyable.
My favorite quilt that I have made is the first quilt I made with hand piecing. This was a Grandmother’s Flower Garden.
My favorite quilt was called “Chinese Lanterns”. There were LOTS of small pieces and points to match. It was a challenge but I stuck with it and now I’m so pleased with the finished product.
Mt favourite quilt is my landscape quilt. I love it because it is all me. and all fibre – no paint (if I wanted to paint apicture – I would I’m a purist) It hangs on my wall and I don’t think It will ever go anywhere because when I look at it I find it hard to believe I actually designed and constructed and thread painted it myself.

My favorite and probably the hardest was a Storm at Sea quilt. I like the look of circles with straight line piecing.
I would totally love this. I like the idea of a book that gives a jumping off point.
I still have not figured out how to post a badge. ;(

My favorite quilt is a little one for my eldest daughter, it was in mostly browns, she decided it was going to be hers. She was about 6 and all tomboy, beautiful girl. It was a simple lightening bolt pattern. I keep it tucked in my pillow to feel comforted by the memory.
I believe I am already subscribed to the Youtube channel. ;D

My favorite quilt is one of the first I’ve done, it is a quilt I made for my teenage daughter and it has not only batiks, which I love, but my favorite colors of teal and purple, it is very scrappy and everytime I look at it I see something different I like.
I already am subscribed to the newsletter (how I found out about this giveaway).

I am new to these books and am anticipating reading them. So far I have no real special pattern because I see different ones and just love them all!! Thankyou
My favorite sofar is a tree of life quilt, since I had the first successful color choice in it and had the patience to hand quilt it “American” style = very dense quilting!
I’m already a subscriber of your newsletter.
My favourite quilt is usually my most recently finished. So right now it’s 24 Leaves…
Great Giveaway! All sounds very interesting.
Getting ready to make my first quilt,so excited and worried!!!Need those books!!
I have never made a quilt as of yet but I love the kliedascope quilts! They are so happy and colorful! I like all the quilts lol! I am slowly working my way up to making one.
Thank you for the giveaway!
My favourite quilt is one I finished recently called 1930s Zigzag. It is based on one of Bonnie Hunter’s patterns, but I did my own setting pattern so it is quite modern. It was displayed at my guild’s last show, and was noticed on a couple of blogs … fun!
My favorite quilt will be the first one that I finish. I’ve started some, but once I get the top done I get stuck. There are dozens that I would like to, The Lone Star quilts and kaleidoscope quilts are lovely. The 3-D quilts are awesome. The first quilt I ever wanted to make was the Daddy Hex pattern. I’ve never found a pattern for it. Does anyone know where I could get one.?
These contests are fun. Thanks for offering them.
