Today’s blog giveaway is all about Liquitex® paints and mediums! You’ve been hearing us talk about acrylic paints and mediums a whole lot lately, what with the introduction of our Liquitex Surface Design Center for shops, and in reference to the books we’ve published recently that dive into the realms of mixed media, painting on fabric, and surface design. And then again, in our Painting on Fabric article series here on this blog, and in many of the projects we’ve recently posted.
We simply can’t get enough of Liquitex’s paint and medium products, so it is with much joy and no further ado, that I’ll now describe the contents of our latest blog giveaway bundle from Liquitex:
- Liquitex Black Lava Texture Gel 80z.
- Liquitex Pouring Medium 80z.
- a rainbow of 7 Liquitex Soft Body Acrylic paint 2oz. bottles including: Napthol Crimson, Cadmium Red Light Hue, Yellow Medium Azo, Hooker’s Green Hue, Brilliant Blue, Ultramarine Blue, and Brilliant Purple
- and a 7″ x 10″ Liquitex Free-Style spiral bound, aluminum covered notebook
Liquitex Black Lava Texture Gel is a black speckled gel that contains small, flat, hexagonal shaped dark aggregates which produce a variety of unique textural, dimensional and reflective effects, when mixed with acrylic paint.. When wet, it looks gray but when dry, it gives the effect of ground, dry, black lava. It dries
flexible and water-resistant.
Liquitex Pouring Medium creates even “puddles,” poured sheets, and flowing applications of color. It does not craze, crack, or hold bubbles in the paint film upon drying. Instead, it retains it’s high gloss and wet appearance when dry. Also flexible and water-resistant, you can mix it with Soft Body Acrylic Color to promote drying with a smooth, evenly colored film.
To be in the running for the Liquitex paints & mediums giveaway, leave a comment here or on Facebook telling us what Liquitex product you like the best, or what you want to make using Liquitex products. Comments will be closed at 9am PST on Monday, April 19, 2010 and the winner will be announced the following Tuesday. Good luck!

I have to admit… I wasn’t very familiar with Liquitex before reading this post. I’d only heard of the glass-like effects possible. Now I’m intrigued with the Liquitex Black Lava Texture Gel: I would love to try that as an inclusion in polymer clay. Thanks for the giveaway!
I’ve used Liquitex gel medium to do ink jet image transfers onto fabric. Just print an image onto transparency film (ink jet only), lightly spread the gel medium onto the fabric and lay the printed image onto the medium. Burnish and remove to reveal a mirror image on fabric. Would love to try their paints!
I like the idea of using the black lava on art quilts to get a textural look in landscapes.

Lovely giveaway. I would love to try out some of those acrylic paints. Such colours@
I’d love to try these!
I have used the Liquitex Glossies on glass and ceramic tiles in the past and been very happy with the results.
I bet my sister and I could have some real fun this summer with the new dyes she has and these paints. No piece of fabric would be safe!
Thanks for the great giveaway!
Ive been thinking about trying to use the liquitex gel, esp the lava gel you mention here, but to use it on a textile piece. Ive got a thick bark picture in my mind and want to create it in manipulated fabric form, so wonder if the small particles contained within this product might bring its own special feature to the creation?
Maybe have it within the folds so that it forms crevices of still textural shade?
Do please put me into the draw for this! Lyn
I have not worked with acrylics very much but would use these to embellish small projects…….purses, accessories, mini quilts.
I do subscribe to your newsletter thru google reader.
2nd chance?
I have not used the products but am looking forward to trying the paints. I have an artist friend in the UK and if I won I would send the paints to her to try first. She has MS and not a lot of money and is dying to try your products on fabric. Thank you for a chance to win!
That Black Lava Texture Gel sure does give me ideas! I’m at the point right now where pretty much all of my acrylic paints are in desperate need of replacement. I’ve had most of them since folk art was first all the rage (so that tells you how old they are getting to be!). Thank you for the opportunity to win some new ones!
those paints look so luscious in the store!!! and have always wanted to try the black lava gel medium. sure hope i get the chance to try both – very soon!
I’ve enjoyed using the Liquitex products I have and would love to have these.
What a very generous giveaway…thanks for offering it to us. I would love to try the Liquitex Black Lava Texture Gel. I love the idea of the texture and reflective quality!
thanks for the chance to win
Me encantaría usar Liquitex, y conseguir bonitos efectos sobre textil.
Se puede coser sobre ellos?
Un saludo desde España.
What do I want to make? Are you kidding?? Lots and lots of mixed media quilts, of course!
I have added your blog badge to my blog at quiltordye.blogspot.com
cool paints…I used to use them years ago to screenprint on paper, but have never tried them on fabric…and the medium variety wasn’t available then. I still have some liquitex in my stash, but I think it’s all just acrylic paint for kids’ projects…
I use such a wide range of Liquitex products that I find it hard to label any particular one as my special favorite. I use the Slow Dry Blending Gel mixed with a variety of Liquitex liquid acrylic paints when silkscreening and doing other forms of printing. I use the Light Modeling Paste when making “plaster paper” (and this will be mentioned in a local demo I will be doing, for an artists’ organization, April 21.) For special effects in my mixed-media paintings and collages, I use Black Lava, White Opaque Flakes and Glass Beads. I use Matte Gel, Gloss Gel and Gloss Gel Super Heavy in creating my altered art assemblages. For applying assorted color glazes to my acrylic paintings , I use Gloss Medium and Varnish as well as Glazing Medium. Very recently, at an art vendors’ expo in Summit, NJ, I purchased a range of Liquitex Inks which I am looking forward to using.
What a great giveaway, I would love a chance at this product. How fun it would be to paint on my fabrics. Thanks for the chance.
It would be fun to play with these products and make comparisions with dyes for applying surface designs to textiles. Hope that I get the opportunity to try them.
I love, love, love the iridescent medium! It really makes colors pop, especially on black.
edie
I would love to try these paints on my mixed media creations. I have been borrowing my husbands tube acrylics, when he isn’t using them.
I have been a fan of Liquitex Gesso for years. What I find particularly appealing about the product is that it accepts such a variety of mediums. It provides enough “tooth” to use with color pencils, yet works very well with watercolors or acrylics. Among the items I produce are illustrated kraft paper boxes, coated first with Liquitex Gesso. Other comparable products do not have the same properties and do not provide an acceptable base for the pencil illustrations.
Wow…I want to win!!! (fingers crossed) I’ve been wanting to switch to Liquitex mediums for years.
I used Liquitex paints years ago when doing painting, but i have never used them on fabric.
I love all the paints and gel mediums!

love my matte medium!
We are looking for a gel to paint over gold leaf so this might be perfect!
I’m interested in the pouring medium, as painting an extra step on top of a project to give it a bit of a sheen is a pain, and if this can be mixed with the paint it would eliminate that step, which appeals to me.

I’d love to try the paints for some screening techniques.
The Black Lava Texture Gel sounds cool. I like to work with mixed media and this sounds great for underwater backgrounds as does the Pouring medium.
Thanks for the chance.
I haven’t used these paints before but am looking to enhance a quilt I’m making for my daughter’s wedding gift. I think with some practice I could enjoy the results with this product.
I am commenting with great hopes of winning some of that yummy Liquitex swag. You folks are already on my Google Reader subscription list.
Second comment, I forgot to tell you what I want to make, and I just subscribed to your Youtube.com feed. Not sure how to prove that, but…. Ok, I am making tiny books right now. Tiny fabric books. They are painted inside and out. That’s where all my paints and findings and mediums and everything goes right now.
I’ve never used Liquitex products before as they are not available in my area. Would love an opportunity to win the giveaway and to try them. Am a subscriber to your newsletter.
I love this line of products and could always use more, more, more! :-)
I would love to try the Liquitex Black Lava texture gel – it looks like so much fun!!
I have been debating between Setacolor and Liquitex, but it seem like the Liquitex is the more popular product among fiber artists. So that’s probably the one I’d try first. The paints are always fun, but I want to work with the various mediums as well. Only recently have I read about mediums….all I’ve ever used is water as an additive. This is the first I’ve read about the Black Lava product and it sounds like it would produce interesting results. Thanks for a great giveaway and all the info on your blog about using all of these fun, new products!
You-Tube subscription in place….I’ve not checked out you-tube much at all; I’ve seen a few videos found through newsletters and blogs, so I really want to check out what C&T has going on. The blog is fantastic, so I would imagine you-tube would be just as informative.
Newsletter subscriber, although it seems to me this entry is supposed to be for NEW subscribers…I’ve scrolled down and seen many, many entries with current subscribers and blog badges already in place. So I guess I’ll add this extra entry (maybe it could be more specific? Whether it’s for existing subscribers or NEW only).
Thanks for the chance to win this great prize!
Raising my hand and jumping up and down in my seat…Pick Me!
I think that the Liquitex Gesso would be perfect for my altered books!
We use the Basic Student colors at the school where I work and they are great!

As a jewelry designer, I use alcohol inks on brass to create soft Monet-like “canvases”; I’d love to see how your acrylic inks would work with my process. I think your acrylic paints might also work, if thinned appropriately. I’m always interested in trying new material to freshen up a technique and help it develop and grow.
I like the Liquitex Interference Colors the best. They seem like they’d be interesting, and help change the look and color of an item. Like overlaying with an iridescent soap bubble, almost?

I have their Hooker’s Green and Cadmium Red and use them in my art class and they always blend relaly well to make other colors.
Thanks!
Are you kidding me!!! While I want to try every single color and every possible medium I’m going with the “Black Lava Texture Gel” It sounds so much more interesting than the basic texture mediums. I want all the art in my house to be self-made and I envision a blended background of sort of striping with textured stenciled birds over it and maybe some Lutrador heated branches. I’m so excited to try it!!

I like Liquitex Soft Body Acrylic paint — I’d love the above rainbow.
I’ve always liked Liquitex’s gel medium, it makes for some great textures, and sometimes its just fun plain to muck about with.
I’ve been looking at these but haven’t yet been able to try them. I would love a chance!
I like the acrylics for fabric painting and stamping. I signed up for the newsletter also.
I love love love their Matte Gel medium! Thick enough to make lovely textures while still allowing some of the canvas through, somehow! It’s the best brand ever!
I cant wait to try the new products. My favorite so far is the white. I have mixed it witgh every color to change everything, even the metallics!
I am just learning about the mediums I can use to make different effects on fabric and canvas, so the goods to experiment with would be great. I would love to try Liquitex products. Thanks for the opportunity.

I use Liquitex in my landscape art quilts.
Thanks for the giveaway. Hope I win, it would be fun to play with the paints.
I would love to try these – do they work on fabric?
Recently I’ve been taking a class in acrylic painting, and have only used one product recommended by our teacher (that’s Golden Acrylics on mounted canvas). I plan to experiment with them on fabric to be used in art quilts soon as the course is over.
Now I’ve never had the opportunity to try other paint products, and I’m interested in your recommended Liquitex. So here’s to hoping I’m the big winner! Thanks
I have just branched into art quilting and would love to try these Liquitex paints. Thanks for allowing the opportunity.
I’d love to try these – I can think of so many projects that could be so very cool……………….. me me me me me
I use them with woodblocks on fabric! Great product!
I would love to recieve the Liquitex paints and mediums. I make jewelry with cloth, beads and in tiny frames for photos. It would be so much easier to use Liquitex mediums and paints, to get a more vibrant appearance and not have to use frames or the sealant I use for the beads. It would also make it easier to decorate my grandaughter’s clothes. I live in a remote area that doesn’t offer many choices of decorations.
I’m interested in doing some more painting on fabric!
I’ve never tried any of the Liquitex products….but the Lava gel sounds like fun. I would like to try it on a scrapbook layout.
These sound like fun to try. I’d love to try them. My creative thoughts are flowing!!
I love the matte gel medium and gesso. I couldn’t do any art without them.
This would be exciting!
I am new to fiber art and have not used Liquitex before but I hope to become very familiar with the product as I continue to step outside my box and try new techniques.
I love the Liquitex paints, but had not heard of the “Pouring medium”. I would LOVE to try that, b/c I love t make paint “skins” to use in my different pieces, but sometimes they can be a bit tricky, and a perfect puddle effect would be awesome!!!
Sounds like some good playing!!!!
Amazing content.
Please enter me in the contest to win these marvelous products. Thank you for the opportunity.
Who wouldn’t want that beautiful rainbow of colors to create with!!
I’d love to try these new products – using the liquitex paints is so much fun! I can turn old jeans and batting scraps into works of art!
I would love to try out this medium…fingers crossed!
I want to try the Soft Body acrylics on fabric.
I love the Gesso – makes every surface so easy to work with! Great giveaway!
Liquitex’s Turner’s yellow is a longtime favourite of mind. It’s a gorgeously earthy yellow (a mixture of arylide yellow PY 3 and iron oxide yellow PY 42).
I have already started playing with the paints and love it. The black lava sounds exciting.
I love liquitex paints the colors are vibrant and stay soft on fabric
I love the idea of using the paints to color muslin fabric and making a stuffed animals.
I plan to use the Liquitex paints in art quilts similiar to Susan Brubaker Knapp.
My mother loves to play with fabric paints and I have been wanting to try. This would be a “wonderful” gift for her on Mother’s Day.
Then I could try my hand at painting with her.
It would be grand to win. Please count me in. Thanks for the generous giveaway!
would like to try fabric art
What yummy luscious products, the possibilities are endless….can’t wait to get my hands on any of them!
This paint has a wonderful spread of colors that lend themselves to so many projects. I use them on quilts, wall hangings, art quilts, craft projects and so much more.
I would be thrilled to win a bunch of these paints, they would be well loved!
A bundle of new paint—like Christmas in the spring! How fun is that!!! Judy
I just completed an art journaling class & am also beginning to create art quilts–all of the featured products look like they would be fabulous!
Would love to experiment with the give away product. Hope my name is drawn.
I have used Liquitex acrylic paints for years and really love them!!! The colors & consistency are wonderful and I really like that they are always improving their line of paints and adding new products and applications!
And I can always use more paint plus I’d love to try some of the other products in the prize package, thank you for giving me a chance to win!
I have used Golden Fluid acrylics for quite awhile but I am anxious to try Liquitex soft acrylics; they have a huge color range and are priced reasonably. I’ll keep my fingers crossed!
Georgayne
I would like to try these for some hand-painted patches for quilts, also for tote bags.
i love these paints especially for cardmaking and cloth work – would love to have the set!
Lava gel — sounds intriguing
I love the paints, they are so smooth and the colours are great
Oh, have NOT seen the Lava in my local stores. That would be wonderful on fabric, fabric-cloth, and possibly polymer clay. Would really love to try it! I have many other Liquitex products – love them all, but really rely on your gel mediums.
It would be great to try these products. I usually use a different brand. Sandy
Thanks for the opportunity to win this give-away.
Wow what a great prize, I would just love to be the winner as I have not seen these in my store.
I’m just getting started on learning to quilt, and I really love Art Quilts though I have only made two. I have not used these products but from all I have read, I could have a blast using them on most anything, but think they would be perfect for quilting, Art Quilts in particular. A gal can hope!
I love experimenting with different mediums so the black lave texture gel sounds interesting! Thanks for the opportunity to win!
Now that I am retired, I am very interested in getting into different paint mediums for various crafts. Liquitex has always been one I was interested in.
I used to paint a lot of crafts, but with money so tight, buying craft paint is impossible. I would love these paints. I’ve never used them and would love to try them.
I have been wanting to try my hand at painting on fabric. I am fairly new to fabric art and still a little hesitant to try new things. Winning would give me the nudge I need to start a beautiful wall hanging. Thanks for this chance to win.
I would so love to try the paints for shading and emphasizing on the quilt I’m working on now. My fabric choices blend into each other too much and I think shading with your paints would be just the thing and would add some punch to background design elements!!
