Whenever I have a spare moment (and sometimes when I don’t), I go straight to our Links page and then go down the lists of authors, Creative Troupers, and fans, clicking on each link and reading a post or two from each blog. I like to be “in the know,” you know? And then I like to share some of my findings. So, here I go with another list of hotlinks for the January edition of the Author Blog Round-Up.
Wendy Hill started blogging just this past October but I love visiting her blog because her posts are always short and sweet and witty, always offering a huge return on my time investment. I love the 8 1/2″ by 11″ “Zebra” quilt she entered into the Quilting Arts Magazine quilt challenge.
Alissa Haight Carlton is one of the the authors of upcoming Spring 2011 title Block Party. I learned on her blog that she cast the 7th season of Project Runway which just premiered! I also love her quilts and the photos of Simple Squares her latest baby quilt simply had me drooling (like a baby).
Susan Brubaker Knapp has been chronicling her progress on her final project for Fiber Art Options’ group show, “Orchids: Sensuality Stitched” and the painted piece is breathtaking! See one of the in-progress shots below then visit her blog to see a more recent shot.
Salley Mavor’s blog is a wonderland of delightful imagery. I love how she devotes an entire post to foxes, and I love how the books in the children’s series Big Golden Books were so influential to her. This recent post tells the story of her youth and even includes photos of her old sewing machine and her very first quilt!
Laura Wasilowski’s Threaducation Thursday post yesterday focuses on tying French knots, offering a fantastic tutorial complete with step-by-step images. You say you “don’t tie French knots?” Doesn’t the quilt below make you want to?
Last but not least, here Becky Goldsmith finally answers the question “What fabric do you buy?” I’d always wondered.

Thanks for sharing. These ladies are so creative and it is great getting out of the “typical” quilting patterns.
Thanks for mentioning me, and giving our exhibition some publicity! The show starts this weekend (Feb. 6-7); I’ll b posting more photos of all the beautiful orchid art on my blog then.
