Here’s another great project out of 100+ No-Sew Fabric Crafts for Kids by Mary Link. Make a zany zoo or a dinosaur park for a dresser top. These creatures come with slotted parts that slide together, so the critters can really come to life and stand on their own.
Materials:
(for 1 small zoo of animals)
- ½ yard heavyweight fast2fuse, or two heavyweight fast2fuse craft packs
- Fabric scraps for each animal
- Fabric markers (optional)
- Paper punch (optional)
- Yarn (optional)
- Fabric glue (optional)
Instructions:
The patterns for this project are downloadable here. Just click on these 3 links: link A, link B, and link C and they will start downloading automatically.
- Trace the patterns onto the fast2fuse and cut them out.
- Following manufacturer’s instructions on the fast2fuse packaging, fuse fabric to both sides of each fast2fuse piece and cut. Trim the edges.
- Mark the slot lines and cut each slot wide enough for the animal parts to slide smoothly together.
- Use a paper punch or a marker to make the eyes.
- If desired, dab glue onto the slot points to permanently hold the pieces together.
- Add optional yarn details, such as tails and manes.
Extra Fun!
- Send a dinosaur as a birthday card. Use a fat quarter for each dinosaur.
- Design and make farm animals.
- Make an animal mobile.

Cute idea. I was thinking of making mini ornaments with cardboard and fabric, for the small prim trees.

Thank you for the wonderful project and telling us about this book!!!
Very cute. I think these would also be great items for setting at children’s areas on dining tables, parties, etc. I wonder if Martha Stewart knows about this?
Great project & great gift idea. Just delightful. Thanks for sharing.

The PDF you download doesn’t have all of the pieces for the dinosaurs – is there another page?
Laura, we will be revising the attached PDF to include the dinosaur templates and will re-post early next week. Thanks for letting us know!
The dinosaur template has been added. Download away!
Normally I do not learn post on blogs, however I wish to say that this write-up very compelled me to take a look at and do it! Your writing taste has been surprised me. Thank you, very great article.
