Happy Halloween Miss Kitty

Kitty

My 6 year old, Alivia, came home from school recently and informed me that her best friend, Minae, is going to be a witch for Halloween and she will be her cat. Finally! I thought, This is the costume-making opportunity I’ve been waiting for!

I sewed the skirt with tail, ears, and fur wristbands. At C&T Publishing, most moms and grandmas make the kids their costumes. Until now, I’d always just taken the easy route and bought the kids their costumes. After all, the store costumes are cute and never too expensive. Alivia really changed my attitude this time: She was so proud of this not-so-great costume just because her mommy made it that I am already looking forward to making Alivia’s costume next year.

Cute cat. It amazes me how young kids come up with these ideas for costumes that tie a story together. Such creativity & fun.

Have a Happy Halloween! Take a lot of pictures!

How adorable! What an uptown cat! My girls LOVED Halloween, and because it seemed to be their very favorite holiday (even more than Christmas!) I felt guilty not aiding and abetting them, so I always made their costumes. They had to announce at least a month ahead of time what they wanted to be, so I’d have plenty of time, and they were always so excited. I can totally understand your feeling! Good job on the cat!

I think you did a great job. She is one cute cat. I love the sneakers, too. My kids loved their homemade costumes. Our funniest were the Power Rangers when we made helmets from paper mache.

I’m not much of an apparel sewer, but the fleece Dalmatian costume I made for my younger daughter was one of my proudest moments. She wore that thing for years at any and all occasions, and when she finally (reluctantly) outgrew it, we gave it to a boy we knew who wore it for a few more years.

A fleece dalmation! I love it! I have a baby boy who would like that, maybe. . . . next year.

Suuuper cute, Kerry! I literally just finished Piper’s kitty tutu…I have some tulle left over, so Teagan’s getting a mousie tutu. Little girls in tutus are the cutest :)
