Getting Messy with Rayna Gillman

In the blog posting by Karen called Fiberart Musings, she talks about her recent class with our author Rayna Gillman.  Karen learned how to create gelatin prints.  She was a bit apprehensive at first, but it sounds like she delved right into the messy fun!

To say the least, Karen’s class with Rayna sounded fun and creative. Karen admits,

Rayna is the messiest teacher I’ve ever taken a class with…and it is really very fun to just throw the fabric around, glop paint all over and make a big mess (I’m still wearing my gloves though!)

I roared at Karen’s statement about my messiness – she is so right! But that messiness is contagious and brings out what I hope is people’s “inner kindergartener.” Play is the best route to discovery, IMO, and permission to get messy helps you get spontaneously creative! The proof is in the e-mails I’ve gotten telling me how much fun people are having with the book. This makes me so happy!

i’ve always told my son that getting “messy” was the best part of creating. so, the other day when a friend came over and spilled something…my heart swelled with pride when he said to his friend, “Oh, don’t worry….messes make my mom happy.” LOL
