Weekly Giveaway – Calling Cards: Connect With Style

25022This weeks Giveaway is Calling Cards –Connect With Style by Trice Boerens.  That’s right, social calling cards are back and quite the upcoming trend.Time recently did a feature on them as well as the LA times.

A hundred years back you wouldn’t be caught visiting without a calling card.  The “old” is now the “new” hip way to pass on contact information.  These cards not only offer a creative expression of yourself or an event, but also simply make sense when a business card is too formal and scratched info on a found gum wrapper is way too casual.  Calling cards are being embraced by networking moms, job seekers, students, casual party planners, retirees, reunion attendees, travelers, and club meetings.

200 quietly perforated cards can be run through your printer or hand written and for added charm be embellished.  The 40 designs reach well beyond the old gilded gold look.  They have charm and kicky-ness with a look to suit all occasions.

For your chance to win a copy of Calling Cards – Connect With Style, post a comment here or on Facebook by Monday July 20, 2009 telling us what occasions you foresee using your calling cards for.  We’ll randomly pick one winner to be announced on Monday.  Good Luck!

Fabulous!! Whether I win or not, I am already making Calling Cards to use when I go to see someone and they are not at home, when I visit in the hospital, when I call at a venue that hosts my work and they are not immediately available… hey… the list is endless!

I’ve often wished I had a business card or calling card, but I’m a SAHM, so no business cards. These are great! Thanks for a great giveaway!

I hope to make friends when I leave in a month for a stay in the Netherlands. I’d love to be able to leave calling cards to keep in touch with them.

I love this idea and will be making some whether I win or not! These are great for passing people at my LCS and giving out my contact information when we discuss crafting projects, suppliers, etc. Much more fun than a rolodex card!

I often run into people when I am out and about and never seem to have something to write on to give them contact info. We also have some family events later this summer, calling cards would be great to have to hand out to relatives we’ve lost touch with.

This is just so timely. I have been contemplating making some new calling cards since the ones I have been using have an old area code on them. I can’t even remember when the area code changed: it was too long ago. The old cards were professionally printed and I am very, very bored with them since they have been in use for 20+ years. Even if I don’t win this wonderful giveaway, I am making new cards.

I love the idea of calling cards- if you give a pretty little card to someone they will not want to part with it. Never mind you though ;) I’d use mine to slide trough the letter box if I pass round the friends house and they’re not in, or simply to hand my contact no to someone I’d like to meet again (e.g at mum’s and toddlers group).

Calling cards are the coolest things around. I have some “tea” buddies that I correspond with and they have sent me their calling cards. Very lovely. Thanks for a great idea for a giveaway.

It’s great to see this coming back! I’ve seen them for sale at a few sites and have pondered getting a card that says “Me”. I would find them useful to share when at quilt classes then I could keep in touch with new people I meet. Plus once I get my etsy site finished and blog, I could use it to promote myself as well.

Plus, if everyone created unique and artistic calling cards, they will just be fun to collect. I will admit I have a collection of phone cards, mostly from overseas as they are used much more.

Well we are hosting the 2010 Olympics & Paralympic games here & I plan to be volunteering. I would use the calling cards to give out to new friends I make during the games!

I think calling cards would be great to give out to new friends and the kids new friends.

Neat calling cards…very Jane Austen, huh? I think frequent trips to the zoo and meeting new parents (think car pooling potential) at the beginning of the school year would be great occasions to have a calling card!

I’m retired and don’t use business cards anymore… this would be a perfect fit. What fun to create them too.

I can see us making calling cards as a meeting project, to have next time we’re out visiting an exhibition like the Loch Lomond quilt show!

So very Jane Austen! What a refined and elegant idea with a funky twist!

Now THIS is something I’m really impressed with! I have always loved the idea of calling cards, but since they weren’t in vogue I figured most people wouldn’t know what they were or they would think it was a pompous thing to pass out. BUT, now I have business cards that I’m really pleased with (quilt related, of course), but it does seem a bit weird to give out a business card to an acquaintance when you’re just exchanging information for a future get-together (so I usually just write on a scrap of paper as opposed to giving them my card). I think this is a really great Idea and I can’t wait to check it out!

I just moved from Canada to Australia-and its been interesting meeting new people-and trying to remember a telephone number that is 10 digits long! A calling card is a fabulous way for me to let people feel a little of the kind way I try to live my life-and pass along a reminder of where we met and how to get in touch with me! Fabulous new-old-idea

Years ago, I made my Dad (who was retired) a bunch of business cards because I didn’t know what to get him for his birthday. I did it all cut and paste with glue and all. Shot them thru a copier onto cardstock. They were such a hit with him, that he made special requests for new ones to say something like “I can fix most anything, but I don’t give lessons.” He used to leave them in the door when we went to call on his brothers or sister when they were not at home.

This is such a great idea. And reading the blog post about this brought back many happy memories for me. (Thank yoU!) :-D

I am currently “between jobs” right now, and I do have official looking business cards for job interviews, but these would be great for those networking moments when a more casual look is needed. These are a great idea.

We found my husband’s Great- grandmother’s card pinned to her needlework. We framed them together. It would be fun to carry on the tradition. I didn’t know they had made a come back.
