Similar to her best selling Elm Creek series, author Jennifer Chiaverini has managed to pack both drama and quilting into this week’s giveaway More Elm Creek Quilts. What stands out about her novels and the quilters who read them is the inspiration drawn to better our communities. Elm Creek Camp has quite a following! It’s about reading, embracing, and of course quilting.
More Elm Creek Quilts includes 11 traditional quilts (patterns and instructions) featuring 30 traditional blocks, some quilting basics, and of course drama, drama, drama (excerpts from 5 novels).
What ever your mood or energy level this book will hit the spot. You could choose to make a quilt, start up a good cause or curl up in a cozy chair and read about the happenings at Elm Creek Camp.
For a chance to win a copy of More Elm Creek Quilts, post a comment here or on Facebook by Monday July 6, 2009 telling us about an inspiration that propelled you to make a positive change in your world (however large or small)
We’ll randomly pick one winner to be announced on Monday. Good Luck!

It would be exciting to win this book. Put my name in the pot please.
I’m improving my front garden. I know the neighbors will think it’s a positive change!
Every other Wednesday my fabulous cleaning lady comes – it inspire me to get all of my crap off the floor so that she will have something to vacuum!
This may sound strange but being hit by a car and almost dying has been the most inspiring event in my life. I now know how precious life is and that you truely never know when your time may be up. I have been inspired to enjoy life more, appreciate more and be more creative and generous with my quilting, and all aspects of my life.
I joined the Prayer Shawl group at church – have my first one about 1/2 done. I also have tons of fleece fabric that I’ve decided to make pet blankets and beds to give to animal rescues.
It is difficult to pick one thing, as I continually see situations that remind me how fortunate I am. I realized how many people are impacted with challenges, that I like to help with making charity quilts. And to try to help others where ever I can.

Okay, this is easy… I was diagnosed with Scleroderma 7 years ago and lost the ability to do fine needle work that I love, counted cross stitch, crocheting lacy doilies, embroidery, etc. My sewing machine had been in storage for 12 years while we made room to raise grandchildren. In March of 2008, when we had the house to ourselves again (both retired) my husband asked if I would like my sewing machine back. He wanted me to have a craft I could do because I lived to do the needlework. Of course I got it back the next day and my sister in law was here and I looked at her and said, “I don’t have any kids around to make clothes for, what can I sew?” her reply was…”Let’s make quilts!” So I didn’t have this disease, I never would have discovered quilting, and of course, my sister in law was the one that encouraged it. It has been SUCH a positive change in my life. After all the years of no crafting, I can now happily say that I feel productive again. My hubby says I’m a much happier person since I started quilting and he is right. As I’ve said before, when God closes a door, he opens a window, and the one he opened for me had a wonderful fresh breeze blowing through it. By the way, I have read every single Jennifer Chiaverini book. They are wonderful and I would so love to have one of her pattern books. Thanks for the chance and GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!
I have been inspired by the Pioneer Woman to start a blog :-) She encourages so many people and I hope that I can, in a much smaller way, do the same for folks that visit.
I would love a chance at winning this book. Jennifer Chiavernin books have always intrigued me. Thanks.
This is one author that I never ever got around to, belive it or not. So would surely love this one!!
My inspiration comes from joining a group of ladies who meet each Monday to either work on our own projects or do some charity sewing. It is inspiring to see all the finished projects and if I’ve been involved in working on them I get satisfaction from the feeling of “passing it forward”. Awesome ladies and the pot luck lunches are great too! I love the Elm Creek books and would love to win this one. Thanks for the chance. Hazel
I had a heart beat problem 10 years ago that scared me into realizing I had to really live each day and be thankful for everything and eveyone. The problem ended up being stress related and was fixed. I now live by the motto, give away a smile and you’ll get one back. It really works and changes some grumpy people too.
My dear friend Rita has inspired me to live every day to the fullest, to be open to what God has planned for me, and to love every moment I’ve been given to live. She inspires me every day to share a kind word with those I meet along the way, and to remember to be grateful. I miss her every day. Her example in life was authenticity and sincerity. I strive to live up to her example.
I’ve been looking at blogs, especially Allison Aller and she has inspired me to take up crazy quilting.
What a great giveaway prize! I’m actually inspired by many people who have trials and challenges in their lives — and yet are some of the happiest people I know.
I love Jennifer Chiaverini’s books. I have checked them out from the local library, but have never owned one. Thank you for the opportunity to win one.
My aunt had heard that I took up quilting so she sent me information about making quilts for sick kids. Since I had made a quilt for everyone I know, I figured it would be nice to make one to donate. Well, I was hooked! Now the majority of the quilts I make are for charities (mostly children’s charities, but I’m also interested in Quilts of Valor and quilts for those in hospice).
Having children has inspired me repeatedly to become a better person. It is important to remember that they are always watching and learning from my choices and actions! It was my children who inspired me to learn to quilt. The first quilt I made was for my daughter’s birthday.
having started quilting just one year ago has inspired me to make quilts for charity and also for family member and friends that need comfort and shown some love.

This is an author i’ve not discovered yet. Will be checking out her other books. Exercising regularly is my positive change. I keep thinking i’ll began to enjoy it but so far it’s just a lot of hard work.

Looking for a smaller project I came across “Conkerr Cancer” – and have been sewing pillow cases whenever I can. Hopefully I helped bringing some smiles on kids’ faces. It’s fast, fun and satisfying! Thank you for offering this giveaway!
My husband is my inspiration to get out and involved in helping others. He is a college professor and takes a lot of time to individually help and mentor students. When these young men and women graduate, they become our friends for life, and I can see what an impact my husband has had in nuturing them.

My friends always inspire me to do more with my life by getting me involved in activities — like volunteering to tutor at a local school and cooking at the homeless shelter.
