Part of a series of posts on my recent trip to New York for Book Expo.
As I mentioned earlier, we stayed in the garment district and found a great sample sale that we stumbled upon and had too check out, the clothes were hip and fun and way too pricey. So instead we headed to the button shop and found all sorts of treasures. It was so much fun. I think we were there about an hour and Susanne and I had a really hard time deciding what to get. So here are a few pics of the store and the choices and the final picture is of what I purchased. I plan to make either two bracelets or one really fab necklace, any thoughts?

Wow…beautiful buttons!
I say you should make two bracelets – one to keep and one to give away.
What a small slice of heaven, have you thought of doing a fabric art collage and using them so you can see them all the time??? just a thought……what ever way you choose, enjoy.
Holy Cow! That’s a lot of buttons! I would love to go through that store. Do they have an online shop? I don’t think I could part with those lovely choices. Maybe put them in a jar to set on the shelf and just look at? Nah, that seems selfish, doesn’t it?
Did you go to Tender Buttons? I _think_ that is the name of the shop — on the lower east side of Manhattan, if I remember correctly. I was there on a trip in 1992. :) I LOVED the shop — it was like going through a button museum, except you could BUY. LOL

I had no idea there were so many people as crazy about buttons as I am. I have jars of buttons and sometimes dump them out just to look, but these are so cool that they will have to be used immediately. I will post a pic of my creations…just as soon as I finish planting the flowers and succulents and weeding the garden and picking the strawberries and green beans…OK so maybe next month.;-)
OK so the button store is: Botani Corp USA and they don’t have a website, but the store is located at: 263 W 36th Street, New York, NY 10018 (212) 244-3222. So all you button lovers who will be in NY go forth and find some simply stunning buttons.
Do you know you can get a 2 part puddy-like compound that you mix and then press these buttons into? The mold will dry in less than 5 mins. And then you can press paperclay into it and make endless light weight buttons. You can paint them once they dry.
Your selections are gorgeous! I love those!
