Weekly Giveaway: Wearable Arf

This week we’ll be giving away a copy of new release Wearable Arf to one lucky blog reader. Leave a comment below that describes how your dog, cat, or other pet (or any other animal if you don’t have pets) has inspired, influenced, or otherwise affected your crafting. On Tuesday morning 2/17, we’ll pick one commenter at random and announce the winner later that day.

Authors and mother-daughter team Rachele Fisher and Virgie Fisher show you how to create canine couture  – and you can adjust the fabulous frocks to accomodate your own pooch’s personality.  Your dog is a fella?  No worries – the book includes 16 embellished costumes for both male and female dogs. You’ll learn how to measure and size your pet and how to transform 1 basic vest pattern into into an entire wardrobe of waggy wear – from Hawaiian, Mexican, and formal themes to astro-mutts and urban grrruffiti styles.

To give you an idea, my hubby always wanted a daughter. He now has one. She just happens to be a 112 pound Great Dane.

I try to include all of the pets – 2 cats and 2 dogs – in my albums since they are part of the family. I have even done an entire album dedicated to just the pets – mostly our spoiled daughter.

The patterns aren’t just for small dogs. They come in sizes from XS to XL, so maybe your big guys can wear them after all.

Jake is my 10 year old son who has started sewing a lot with me. He is very creative in his placement of fabric. He can amazingly use the tiniest pieces of fabric and it looks great. He writes about his three cats, he draws them constantly, he is forever making tiny little blankets and quilts so that his cats will be as comfortable as himself. This is definitely a book that has peaked his interest.

My crafting has already been inspired by the new member in my daughter’s household, Sparky, their Chihuaha! He is in all their family pictures and videos now. So I am making more dog centered cards and scrapbook pages. I would love to win this book for Sparky’s new wardrobe!

Oh, how cute! I cannot see my little half Pom/half Poodle wearing wings, but I sure wish he would!! He has lots and lots of hair (mostly blonde), so I never considered a coat for him … but I bet there are some other great things he could wear, eh?

Uh, I had a cat that just had to be right on top of my papers that I was working with and even if I managed to work around her body, it was usually impossible to win the paw battle for whatever tool was in my hand. If she was in the house, no art occured. lol BarefootProf@bellsouth.net Fiskateer #4936

I have four dogs, from small to large. I sew, but my real craftiness comes out with crochet. At first I used scrap yarn to make the dogs funky collars. Now I actually buy yarn specifically to make them things. Two of my dogs love wearing coats and sweaters so I’ve started a little collection of those.

I have a Shar Pei puppy. It is a hard breed to find pictures, fabric or other stuff of but when I do I go crazy. She is also the daughter I don’t have so she gets dressed up in the pink, purples, and frilly outfits so my son is safe.

My Bentley is the most loving dog. He curls at my feet as I sit at my sewing machine. I have made him collars of many colors. I am even going to teach a class (Dog Collars & scrafs) at the local quilt shop this quarter.

Oreo has influenced my quilting, in that if I lose anything, I go look in his bed and can usually find thread spools, block pieces etc. and I have to time the measuring of quilt for borders around his being outside, or else its near impossible :) Cute book!
