At our recent lunchtime celebration honoring Kris Yenche, Carolyn Aune, and Lynn Koolish, our CEO Todd Hensley pointed out, “We’ve had a total of five C&T staff members celebrate 10-year anniversaries this year…”
So why do they stay? What keeps them motivated and coming back for more?
“It’s the people,” Designer Kris Yenche said, and Carolyn and Lynn nodded in agreement. Not only has Kris been with C&T for ten years, but she’s maintained the same workstation for all these years. “I’ve seen many Production staff come and go on either side of my cubby!” Through all the ups and downs of cover and book design (and redesign), increasing demands, and shrinking workspace, she’s stayed positive.
Carolyn signed on ten years ago as a Technical Editor and has honed her skill to perfection. “It’s the only place I know where I could have turned my hobby into a profession!” And we’re glad she did! Gailen Runge, our Creative Director, figured Carolyn had calculated yardage for 34,000 different fabrics—all to make C&T books the best they can be for our readers.
Lynn Koolish also came on board as a Technical Editor, but that didn’t last long—she created an illustration for her first project, Mickey Lawler’s Skydyes, and with that achievement, went on to participate in just about every cutting-edge project at C&T. Our publisher, Amy Marson, described her as a “Go To” staffer… “Can you make a video?” Sure. “Can you sew a sample for us?” Sure. “Can you make a compilation book?” Sure. Never sure how she would get there, but always having the confidence and creativity to reach the goal, Lynn has contributed to C&T’s success as a Developmental Editor, Author, and member of the Acquisitions team.
Everyone joined in the celebration with a delicious barbecue lunch, sharing stories and remembering the dark ages of film before everything was digital. Todd presented beautiful watches to the honorees and we all cheered for three special people and their years of hard work, dedication, and companionship.
Congratulations Kris, Carolyn, and Lynn!
