In part two of why I have the coolest job ever, I have to tell you that I actually get paid to research and read blogs. I spend a lot of time exploring and have a RSS feed list a mile long. But before you get too jealous, I have to say that one of the more difficult aspects of spending so much time on the blogs is getting overloaded by creative, inspiring projects and just not having the time to make them all.
I just admitted to my husband last week that I was starting to have wild fantasies about…my sewing machine. Thank goodness that I am blessed with a supportive husband in possession of a fantastic sense of humor! But with that husband, two young kids to entertain, a house to clean, a garden to maintain and a little retail store to run on the side, well, my life, like many of yours, doesn’t allocate as much time as I would like to spend in my sewing room. But this weekend was different! Four luxurious days to spend some quality time with family, friends, and my sewing machine! Hurrah! I am thankful indeed. So I thought I would share…
The pencil rolls are from Pink Chalk Studio and also appear in the book, Last-Minute Patchwork and Quilted Gifts. The cute butterflies are from a pattern produced by the talented sister team of Melly & Me from Australia, and the bag is of my own design using fabric from the lovely Melissa Averinos Sugar Snap line through Free Spirit.
My least sucessful projects were these:
These are fabric sleeves intended to replace those cardboard ones you get with your coffee. I know that you are still throwing away the cup so I can’t call this very ‘green’ but it’s a step. I think I will add some embroidery to liven them up a bit.
