Going Green: C&T Gets Certified

As a book publisher, with paper a core part of our business, we are concerned about the future of the world’s remaining endangered forests and the environmental impacts of paper production. We are taking steps to reduce our carbon footprint and help fight global warming.

Todd Hensley, CEO

C&T has been doing what it can to reduce its environmental footprint, from the inside out.

We’ve been working hard to lessen our impact on the environment and have found that not only was it super easy to make some green changes, but that in the process we had a lot of fun! It’s been a fantastic process to get the entire company cooperating and making suggestions of greener ways to work. Our “Green Team” will be sharing the steps we’re taking to “go green” over the past couple years, and hopefully inspire others to do the same.

One of the biggest steps we’ve taken is to become a Bay Area Green Business. Yay!

In order to become a certified green business, we took a look at, well, at everything we do and tried to figure out ways to do it greener. The Bay Area Green Business Program has some steps for businesses to follow in order to comply with the program’s environmental regulations, focusing on how a company conserves natural resources, prevents pollution, and reduces waste.

We took some measures (details to come) to ensure we complied to all the regulations, and by the time the inspector came, we passed with flying colors. (Well, flying color…that being green.) They gave us a plaque and a huge sticker for our front window. We even got to take a Green Business Pledge! You can only imagine how proud we were. Pats on the back for everybody!

Here is the pledge we’ve taken as a company.

We believe a successful business is dependent upon a healthy environment. We are actively working to show our environmental responsibility to our community by committing to the following objectives:

  • To comply with all applicable environmental regulations and strive to exceed compliance
  • To conserve energy, water and other natural resources
  • To develop and implement practices that prevent pollution and waste
  • To be an environmentally responsible business within our community.

I’m so proud of our green company! The best part about our new way of working is that it has had an effect on how my family and I live at home. Thanks to the great example C&T has set, my family is becoming greener as well.
